Wittenberg recently was blessed with a bequest of $300,000 from the estate of Diane Thall Arthur, class of 1959.
Arthur, who passed away late last year, earned a degree in education from Wittenberg. She enjoyed a successful career as a public school educator and principal, and as a supervisor of student teachers and instructor at Wright State University.
Arthur had a passion for drama and shared her enthusiasm for it with her students. She continued to be involved in community theatre and volunteer activities after retiring to the Gulf coast of Florida.
Because Arthur's Wittenberg experience occupied a special place in her heart, helping to define her career and personal life, she felt a keen sense of obligation to leave a legacy to her alma mater. Arthur's gift to the university will establish the Diane Thall Arthur Endowed Scholarship to benefit future generations of Wittenberg students.
"The impact of Diane's generosity will affect the futures of our students for years to come; however, endowments of much lesser amounts canand currently do provide the additional assistance needed to allow many students to acquire a Wittenberg education," says Executive Director of Gift Planning Rick Stenberg. "It becomes so evident that when it comes to remembering Wittenberg in your estate plan, all gifts make a difference."
